Darren Nisbett

My images begin in the dark and empty corners of abandoned places. Travel has become a big part of my imagery and I've seen a lot more of the world since taking photography.

My vision is realised in Photoshop where I use layering and toning to build up the final image piece by piece sometimes using parts of other images to evoke the feelings or ideas that I had when I stood in the place taking the original photograph. I work mainly in black and white or muted colours.

My work is printed on a flatbed printer and I experiment with papers as well as metal and gilding using gold and copper foil which allow the base to take on a life of its own as it reacts to the print and the light around it, my current series is expanding on this method of printing
