Peter Clossick paints classical portraiture in an abstract style rich in texture. He focuses on the human form and the narratives it can tell with emotional intensity and introspection. He explores identity, resilience, and cultural themes in an increasingly fragmented world.
Clossick’s paintings are housed in public, private, and corporate collections. He was born in 1948 into a working-class family in Kings Cross, London. His educational journey includes attending the Working Men’s College, Leicester Polytechnic, Camberwell School of Art, and Goldsmiths’ University. He initiated and led an Art & Design Access Course for adults in Adult Education and taught at Oxford Brookes and the Open University. From 2000 to 2005, he served as President of the London Group and is a member of the New English Art Club, Blackheath Art Society, and the Plymouth Society of Artists. Throughout his career, Clossick has participated in twelve solo exhibitions, six two-person exhibitions, and hundreds of group exhibitions, along with numerous publications, awards, and media appearances spanning over fifty years in the arts.”
