The idea or source materials for my work is often an image from the media, a photo I have taken, a sentence someone said, a line from a book or a song, a photo or headline from a newspaper, a scene from a film, that triggers inspiration.

I am a witness to events.

Suzan Swale has been exhibiting since 1969. While painting is the backbone of her practice, she has also made installations, used video, and was part of a performance group for eight years. Suzan is currently showing in Women in Revolt! Art and Activism in the UK 1970-1990 at Tate Britain, 8 Nov 2023 – 7 Apr 2024. She has been an active and loyal member of The London Group since 1984
