Almuth Tebbenhof LG is working on a monograph and would like some help.
Almuth wrote to us recently wondering “if anyone can advise me on how to go about looking for a sculpture I made around 1980 of which I have a couple of black and white images but have lost all trace of. I think I was inspired at the time by surrealism – a show at the ICA with Meret Oppenheim and others really excited me. So I put my anger and humour together and made a sculpture of my sewing machine. Now I see a bit of Allen Jones, a touch of Man Ray, Dali and I want to find it… I moved to my studio in Wandsworth in 1981 and somehow it never made it here. My life was in such a turmoil at that time that I just cannot remember. It was sculpted out of stoneware clay, glazed with a grey-green glaze and fired. It’s the size of a sewing machine (naturally).”
