‘PlaceMent’

‘Place’ as both Verb and Noun and ‘Ment’ as Intention.

Placing Objects in Relation to one another being Core throughout Art Practices relating to Concept, Content, Context and Aesthetics.

Placement being Rooted in Play, even in Fidgeting, Messing with Objects within their Own Related Space.

Ordering or Disordering, Scribbling, Doodling associated with Boredom and Semi- conscious Creative Manipulating.

Beer Mats on a Bar, Things on a Tables on Shelves , Fruit Bowls, Flowers in a Vase. Whatever is at hand to Occupy the Need for Direct or Spontaneous Play, Arrangement and Placement.

Objects for the Sake of Description and Purpose can be the Two Dimensional Elements of Line and Colour as well as Three Dimensional Materials, Natural, Crafted, Manufactured, Purposed, Found and Selected.

All having their own Unique Energy and Presence, Embodying their Present Existence and Past History which in turn is affected by PlaceMent and their Relationship to one another in a Shared Space .

Energies between Objects in Close Proximity can have both Balance and Harmony yet also Discourse and Imbalance. Adjustment can change the Nature of those Energies according to a Desired Purpose or by Chance.

Although the Space Objects Share is in itself Formless and Intangible, it has Measurable Dimension defined by the Objects that Occupy it, which in turn is Crucial to the Relationship of these Objects. Even a small Change or Adjustment within that Space can Alter both Content, Context and Narrative of the Experience.

The ‘Place’ and Space that Objects Inhabit can be ‘Ment’ and Intended or it can have Just Occurred through a Serendipitous Route of ‘Chance’. Yet through Recognition there can still be a Dialog, a Narrative and an Energy of ‘Rightness’.

Through Engagement, PlaceMent can Generate Energies and Perceptions that can be Shared by Facilitators and Engagers Alike.

Harmony, Discourse, Order, Pattern and Chaos all have Roles and Identity within the Language of PlaceMent. Although all have their Opposing yet Definitive Feelings and Emotions.

Those of Unity and Formality offer Safe Retreat while Accidentally Random Collision can result in Feral Unease.

Yet these Thoughts remain; are PlaceMent and Chance Comparable or/ and Compatible, and do Objects have their Own Discrete Soul or do they just Inherit part of Ours as we Engage with Their Presence ?!
