A Celebration of a Lifelong Artistic Journey.
Thank you to the University of Buckingham Press for reminding us about this beautiful book showcasing 50 years of work by Anthony Green, member of The London Group from 1964 to 2023.
Since 1988, Green produced two to three prints annually, many of which have been prominently featured at the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition. Anthony Green: Printed Pictures brings together nearly the entire printed oeuvre, faithfully reproduced from the University of Buckingham Collection. This collection has a rich and varied body of art, such as paintings, sculptures, and prints—that celebrates domestic life, personal memory, and emotional depth with extraordinary colour and invention.
Each print is accompanied by informative captions that offer fresh insights into Green’s unique creative process and the stories behind the works. The publication also features a compelling introductory essay by Dr Paul Davis, drawing on recent interviews with Green as well as critical commentary from leading art voices in the UK and beyond.
This collection is both a celebration and a documentation of an artist whose vision remains deeply personal, inventive, and vividly human.

“Anthony was a much-loved member and supporter of The London Group, elected in 1964 and one of the longest serving members. He became an associate academician in 1971 and a full RA in 1977, he was also a member of the New English Art Club. Born in 1939 he went to the Slade from 1956 to 1960 when he received a French Government scholarship to Paris where he lived for a year before returning to the UK, to marry Mary Cozens-Walker who he had met at the Slade where they were both students. He had over 80 solo exhibitions in many cities worldwide and twice stood for the Royal Academy presidency.”
