force with no net sum

Emilia González Salgado LG exibitits in duo show in The Czech Republic. 24 July – 22 August 2025.

‘force with no net sum,’ a site-specific, durational installation, is the first public exhibition of a collaborative practice between Emilia González Salgado and Michelle Lee Johnson. Constructed as a distillation system, it condenses the atmosphere of the space into a liquid over the course of one month. The liquid, carrying scent, is collected in blown glass vessels in the form of the inside of their mouths. The machine is a performer, generating a fluid-based documentation; a collection of breath, sweat, humidity, amongst other indeterminate residues.

Parallel to the exhibition, the artists have developed a ‘manual’ artist book that accompanies the piece which will be released in the UK at the end of September.
