Ten artists from across the south west and London respond to the theme of adaptable matter at The Hide’s artist-led outdoor sculpture exhibition, now in its fourth year.
Responding to the rural location, each artist uses processes that transform their diverse materials in experimental ways. Fabric, glass, clay, concrete and cardboard are in dialogue with the garden and each other, connecting origins, geographies, and ideas.
Most of the artworks were not intended for an outdoors location, so artists are challenged to consider how their work adapts to unexpected conditions, and to delve into a deeper exploration of the environmental implications of making permanent sculpture today.
Young artists from neighbouring Gloucester will also show sculptures they have been making with artist-curator Alice Sheppard Fidler.
