‘Visit us in Shoreham for a magical blend of extraordinary sculpture and beautiful English countryside: an art lovers paradise and a perfect day out for garden enthusiasts and families’
Shoreham, a quintessential Kent village, is to host Valley of Vision Sculpture in June and July 2020, 80+ top artists including Richard Wilson RA, David Mach RA, and Frank Bowling OBE RA. Their sculptures will be displayed in beautiful gardens throughout the village in the idyllic Darenth Valley just on the edge of London.
The artist Samuel Palmer coined the phrase ‘Valley of Vision’ when he lived in Shoreham in the 1820s, and the Darenth Valley was the inspiration for his celebrated visionary landscape paintings.
Curator and local resident Susan Haire said, ‘Valley of Vision Sculpture’ will be one of the largest and most diverse outdoor sculpture exhibitions the UK has ever seen. This magical blend of sculpture and English countryside will be an art lovers paradise, and I can’t think of a more perfect day out for garden enthusiasts or families’
Visitors will be able to walk in Palmer’s footsteps finding sculptures where he loved to walk, and where he delighted in bringing fellow artist William Blake.
‘I am not sure there has ever been anything quite like this before, certainly not on this massive scale nor in this garden oriented location, just on the edge London’
Nicholas Usherwood, Galleries magazine.
