Collecting meditation data via brainwaves to create a collective meditation experience

This work uses an EEG Brainwave system to transform participants’ meditative states into real-time visual and sonic environments, creating a shared digital field of perception. Within the space, audiences are invited to spend time together in a calm and relaxed atmosphere, meditating, slowing down, and collectively generating an evolving immersive environment. In doing so, experiences that normally exist within the individual mind are translated into a perceptible form of “co-presence”.
The work focuses on the dynamic relationships generated between people, rather than the representation of objects or emotions. By shifting audiences from viewers to active generators, the project reconsiders how connection might be formed through non-verbal means within a digitally hyperconnected yet emotionally fragmented society. Here, brainwaves, breath, and perception no longer function as technical data alone, but become mediums through which a shared relational field is constructed.

Cosmic in the Brain – Series is an experimental artistic practice that merges neuroscience technologies with generative art, aiming to translate the abstract processes of human thought into the creation, evolution, and integration of stars within a virtual cosmos via Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) technology.
The work is a collaboration between the artist and the audience. Through intuitive interaction, individual ideas are translated into a shared digital cosmos, allowing each participant’s inner world to contribute to the collective constellation. This process turns private thought into a visible, living landscape, one that unfolds in real time and belongs equally to everyone present.

The Boundaries of Awareness Through BCI
The lapping of the waves to the shore signifies the end of the waves, and just as the limitations of the human mind exist boundaries. It urges the viewer to recognise that the boundaries between human thought and the natural world are mere cognitive contradictions, and to reflect on and contemplate the notion of a collective consciousness that permeates all forms of life.
The result is a debate between the disconnect created by the indoctrination of human civilisation and the unholy symbiosis of nature. The work challenges traditional notions of separation and emphasises the fluidity of life and the harmonious symbiosis of nature.
The techniques used by the authors combine EEG&ECG devices and digital media. This synergy captures and visualises participants’ brainwave and heart rate data in real time, translating abstract neural activity into a compelling visual narrative. Viewers are invited to embark on a speculative journey where nature and self-awareness intertwine.
