A new solo exhibition of paintings by Mark Dunford. This collection draws from recent years of painting in Cornwall and beyond, where Mark’s work continues to evolve: shifting between stillness and energy, abstraction and observation, always grounded in a deep sensitivity to place. “In situ” — in place — describes both the physical rootedness of these works and the artist’s meditative engagement with his environment. These are paintings that invite close looking and quiet attention.
“Mark’s work has a timeless quality that resonates deeply with collectors and art enthusiasts. This new exhibition and monograph reaffirms his remarkable ability to balance abstraction and observation, breathing life into the surfaces of his paintings. The gallery is honoured to continue our journey with him as he shares these powerful works with the world.” Judi Green, Gallery Director

New Monograph: Mark Dunford – Into the Light
To mark ‘In Situ’ the gallery is relaunching a revised and expanded version of the monograph, ‘Mark Dunford: Into the Light’, which was first published in 2021. This updated edition includes a deeper perspective on Dunford’s artistic journey, with new works illustrated, showcasing his dedication to capturing moments of presence through painting. The hardback monograph includes personal reflections about his pictures by the artist and an introduction by Dr Elisabeth Reissner, Lecturer in Conservation and Technology at the Courtauld, London.
