What wonderful timing for a bit of international publicity.

The London Group has just launched the call for entries for its 86th Open exhibition, and remarkably, up pops a vintage London Group poster in Naomi Watts and Bill Murray’s latest film ‘The Friend’.
The poster marks the “Eleventh Exhibition of The London Group” at The Mansard Gallery, Heal & Son Ltd., 196 Tottenham Court Road, in November 1919. This was a large exhibition of 129 works. Exhibiting London Group members included Walter Sickert, Vanessa Bell, David Bomberg, Mark Gertler, and Bernard Meninsky, as well as thirteen non-members, including E.M. O’R. Dickey, Rupert Lee, F.J. Porter, Cicely Hey, and E. Wolfe.
Since the first London Group Open in 1916, the Group has worked to create opportunities to exhibit fellow artists as well as its members. This continues today, of the 158 artists taking part in the 85th Open Exhibition in 2023, 79 (50%) were non-members.
